Líver Roque and the Battle Trilogy: A Journey of Heroism and Female Resilience
Born in Cambuí, in the southern region of Minas Gerais, Líver Roque discovered her passion for literature in an unexpected way—while working as a domestic worker in various households. This connection with books remained with her throughout her life, eventually leading her to pursue degrees in Teaching, Literature, and Pedagogy, along with specializations in various Literatures. However, it wasn’t until the age of 60, in January 2020, that she decided to bring the stories she had long carried within her to life, embarking on a prolific literary career amid the global pandemic.
Líver Roque stands out for her ability to highlight the strong, fragile, dreamer, and warrior women of everyday life in her works. Her stories, marked by female characters who fight for justice, freedom, and dignity, have earned recognition in various literary competitions, such as the Paulo Setúbal and Travassos awards, where her skill in crafting powerful narratives was celebrated.
Among her many publications, the “Battle” saga stands out as an epic of heroism and resilience. Comprising the titles “Battle I – Black Warrior,” “Battle II – Eternal Warriors,” and “Battle III – Warrior Queen,” the trilogy narrates the struggles of characters who face monumental challenges to protect their kingdoms and principles. “Battle is a saga of six books. The fourth and fifth will be sent to the publisher this year, and I’m currently writing the sixth. (Battle IV – Entre glórias e tragédias, Battle V – Morte à espreita, and the final one, Battle VI – Aurora de novos tempos.)” says the author.
Battle I – Black Warrior
The first book of the trilogy, “Battle I – Black Warrior,” introduces the story of Prince Lohan, destined to become a great warrior to protect the Kingdom of Black Lion from the ambitions of neighboring realms. Trained since childhood by the renowned warrior Ron, Lohan must balance brute strength with dignity and respect for life. The battles take place not only on the fields of war but also in the hearts of the warriors, who face losses, revelations, and decisions that will forever change the fate of the kingdoms.
Battle II – Eternal Warriors
In “Battle II – Eternal Warriors,” the story continues with the young Princess Gwenael, a woman determined to change the customs of her time. Inspired by Lohan’s example, she joins forces with Caylan and Cahal to form the Warrior Triad of Black Lion. The princess faces challenges that test her strength and courage, placing the common good above her own desires. The narrative explores the fight for freedom, justice, and the dilemmas that arise when love collides with social conventions.
Battle III – Warrior Queen
The third and final book, “Battle III – Warrior Queen,” plunges into a scene of death and destruction, where the unified kingdoms of Black Lion and Silver Lynx face hunger, misery, and oppression. Princess Gwenael, now a solitary voice of resistance, rises against injustice, trying to alleviate the suffering of her people. Even without the support of her allies, who have cowardly distanced themselves, she continues to fight against the tyranny and brutality that plague the kingdoms, keeping the flame of hope alive.
The “Battle” trilogy is a celebration of female strength in times of adversity, reflecting Líver Roque’s own journey, who began her literary career in the later stages of life, proving that it is never too late to turn dreams into reality. With her passionate writing and memorable characters, Líver Roque establishes herself as a powerful voice in Brazilian literature, inspiring women to fight for their ideals and never give up on their dreams.
